As preposições (prepositions) têm a função de relacionar substantivos e pronomes a outros elementos em uma oração. Sem as preposições as frases perderiam o sentido, pois as elas expressam relações de tempo, direção, movimento, lugar ou possuem a mesma ideia de conjunção. Muitas vezes as preposições são seguidas de substantivos ou pronomes. Em alguns casos pode-se preceder o gerúndio.
